The End is Near... For Windows98/ME
MS is finally pulling the plug on their old pride and joy Win98, as well al the Windows step-child WinME.
This should come as no surpise, especially when all modern computers have come with Windows XP installed since Christmas-season 2001!
From Microsoft:
End of Support for Windows 98 & Windows ME. Effective July 11, 2006, support for Windows 98, Windows 98 Second Edition, and Windows Millennium Edition (Windows ME) will end. Existing support documents, however, will continue to be available through the Microsoft Support Product Solution Center site. You can find more information about Windows XP and migrating to this platform at the Windows Resource Center.
Despite this news the ever coveted Windows Vista will not ship this Christmas-season. It was been pushed back to January 2007.
Which, I would hope, affords MS more time to "patch them holes!!"
